What do these times ask of us?
The sensuality of the impossible
Let’s co-create rhizome of other and othered impossibilities
My work is an invitation into probing, unlearning, reflection, experimentation, and co-creation of other ideas, knowledges, ways of knowing, and modes of engagement as we attempt to transform suffering, violence, and destruction of every kind in the course of the work that we are called to do.
I am an African feminist activist, social researcher, writer, photographer, movement strategist, and international consultant. For nearly two decades, I dedicated my activism and professional work to so-called lost causes, namely those of feminists, marginalized and criminalized communities— to co-create rhizomes of other possibilities. Central to my activism and artistic endeavors are the questions of the power of aesthetics, reclaiming our humanity, the sensual complexity of relationships, creativity, and the importance of the improbable and insignificant, as well as goodness in social justice work. Through initiatives and collaborations with co-conspirators, I have contributed to experiments and reflections aimed at bringing forth the impossible.
I am the co-founder and founder of a few initiatives in West Africa, including ISDAO, Q-Zine and QAYN.
I bring a beginner’s mind to each assignment, meaning I do not have a fixed approach other than the delight of engaging in work of visioning, facilitating, (un)learning, and co-creating lines of inquiry and practices that attend to the seemingly insignificant, the small, and the spiritual dimension of transformative work. The process is the outcome. My creative process is one of deep immersion, of exploration, and of troubling boundaries to deliver meaningful outcomes. I give clients what they need, not want they want. As such, my work will speak to only those willing to take such a journey together.
